The Procedure 

After lying down with a grounding pad placed on your back—ensuring the safe delivery of radiofrequency energy—your provider applies a gel to the treatment area. The provider then slowly guides the device across the treatment area to deliver pulses of energy below the skin. During the procedure, temperatures briefly increase up to 109 degrees before automatically cooling so that the skin’s surface remains undamaged. Many patients describe the sensation as similar to a hot stone massage.  

Treatments last about 15 to 30 minutes. You may have some redness or inflammation following the procedure that’s akin to the appearance of a sunburn.

How many Exilis Ultra treatments are needed? 

We recommend scheduling a series of treatment sessions performed about 1 to 2 weeks apart. Typically, patients undergo 6 treatments initially. The specific number of treatments depends on whether you’re seeking skin tightening, fat reduction, or a combination of both, and the size of the treatment area. Your provider at our med spa discusses your goals during the consultation to develop a treatment plan.  

Can Exilis Ultra be combined with other treatments?

You may want to consider combining laser skin resurfacing, cosmetic injectables such as dermal fillers, or other skin rejuvenation procedures with Exilis Ultra treatments to enhance the overall results. If your goal is body contouring, you can ask about treatments such as CoolSculpting® or EMSCULPT® to determine which is best for you.  

How long does it take to see results after Exilis Ultra treatments?

Each patient responds differently to the procedure, but it takes months for the body to produce new collagen. You’ll notice some results sooner, but you should expect to see continued improvement in your skin’s elasticity for 3 months or more. It takes a similar amount of time for fat cells to die and the body to naturally remove them.
