About the Hollywood Peel
The Spectra laser is extremely versatile and can address a range of skin conditions. The Hollywood Peel is one of the treatments we can perform using the laser system, which we can customize by adjusting the settings to treat specific concerns. At CaloSpa®, we typically recommend the Hollywood Peel to:
- Eliminate redness, brown spots, and excess pigment
- Soften fine lines and acne scars
- Increase the skin’s firmness and elasticity
The Hollywood Peel improves skin color, texture, and firmness. While patients often see improvement after their first treatment, we recommend a series of 3 to 5 treatments for optimal results. A Hollywood Peel is not an appropriate procedure for tanned or darker skin tones.

The Procedure
A Hollywood Peel treatment is gentle enough that you may not even realize it is working. The no-downtime procedure is known for quickly refreshing skin without the recovery time that follows most other laser treatments.
A Hollywood peel both targets pigmentation in the cells and heats up the layer of skin which produces collagen when it is injured. That carefully controlled process is the key to tightening the skin and reducing wrinkles and acne scars.

What to Expect During a Hollywood Peel
First, a thin layer of special lotion is applied to your skin about 15 minutes before the treatment begins. The lotion is carbon-based, and it will look like you are wearing a mud mask.
Then your laser technician begins the treatment, making several passes over the treatment area. The laser energy breaks down the lotion and removes the top layer of dead skin. A slight warm, tingling sensation is common as the skin’s second layer (the dermis) heats up. The skin begins contracting and the laser triggers the collagen-building process.

How many treatments will I need?
A single Hollywood Peel produces results, but many of our patients return for multiple treatments to maximize their outcomes. Because the non-surgical treatment causes virtually no discomfort and doesn’t require downtime, it’s convenient for our busy patients.
How long do the results last?
The Hollywood Peel produces results that can last for several months. The treatment for some conditions, such as acne, may require more frequent maintenance treatments. Of course, the aging process continues, and CaloSpa® recommends following a comprehensive skin care regimen tailored to your specific needs to keep your skin looking youthful and refreshed.
