People considering dermal fillers consider hyaluronic acid virtually synonymous with products such as Restylane® and JUVÉDERM®. At our Lexington and Louisville rejuvenation centers, we now offer the RHA Collection of fillers, the only hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers on the market approved by the FDA to adapt to the dynamic demands of the face.
The choice of which filler is best for specific patients depends on which one will produce the most natural-looking results. That includes being aware of the treatment area’s facial dynamics so that you look equally attractive at rest and in motion. RHA fillers have been used in Europe for 5 years and have an excellent track record for safety and great results. They set themselves apart because the HA formulation they use most closely mimics the body’s natural hyaluronic acid.
In this blog post, we’ll answer some of the questions we’re hearing from patients about RHA fillers and describe what makes them special.
What are “facial dynamics?”
Facial dynamics refers to the different movements made by the face and the speed at which we perform these facial movements when talking or changing expressions. If you’ve researched cosmetic injectables in the past, you may know that BOTOX® injections minimize certain “dynamic wrinkles” such as crow’s feet and worry lines by relaxing the muscles used to squint, frown, or make other facial expressions.
What makes the new RHA fillers special?
Other hyaluronic acid fillers are gels of various consistencies that treat age-related volume loss in less dynamic areas. RHA fillers are the first HA products to come on the U.S. market that work with the movements and micro-movements of the face, flowing seamlessly with each emotion or expression.
The natural hyaluronic acid in your skin helps provide moisture, volume, and structure to your skin. Over time, your skin produces less hyaluronic acid. The RHA Collection is formulated to closely mimic the HA that already exists in your skin, producing a more natural look. RHA fillers are made without unnecessary additives, part of a trend of “clean beauty” products that are increasingly popular among patients.

How long do RHA fillers last?
The collection of 3 fillers last up to 15 months, according to RHA clinical trials conducted before getting FDA approval. That means that if it takes 3 to 4 syringes to produce optimal results, maintenance treatments after a year or so may only require 1 or 2 syringes. Of course, these are estimates, and the number of syringes needed to produce optimal results will vary from patient to patient.
How do I know if these new fillers are right for me?
The best way to learn if you can benefit from RHA fillers is to discuss your cosmetic concerns with a qualified, experienced professional. Dr. Calobrace has earned the prestigious designation of ExpertInjectors, and CaloSpa® Rejuvenation Center enjoys a reputation as one of the leading medical spas not only in Kentucky but throughout the U.S.
