For those who love the anti-aging power of BOTOX® Cosmetic here in Louisville and Lexington, KY, we have exciting news to share. Jeuveau by Evolus, the first FDA-approved neuromodulator to hit the market in nearly 10 years, is coming to CaloSpa this spring.
We’re thrilled to introduce this exciting new addition to our menu of cosmetic services, and we know you have a few questions about the product. In this blog post, we’ll share everything you need to know about Jeuveau and how it can help you look relaxed and refreshed.
What is Jeuveau and how is it different from BOTOX, Dysport®, and XEOMIN®?
Jeuveau is structurally similar to these products and works in essentially the same way. It temporarily relaxes specific muscles to smooth out lines and wrinkles caused by repeated contractions. However, we prefer Jeuveau because it is:
- Created and manufactured using a proprietary Hi-Pure technology
- The only neurotoxin designed specifically for aesthetic treatments
- For many patients the treatment can be more cost effective
What does it treat?
Jeuveau is approved by the FDA to treat moderate to severe glabellar lines, which are the lines between the eyebrows; also known as “11s” or frown lines. We can also use it to treat crow’s feet and forehead furrows.
How does it work?
Botulinum toxin, the main component of the formula, safely relaxes the specific muscles it’s injected into. This stops you from repeatedly forming expressions that contribute to lines. It’s effective both for reversing and preventing contraction-caused wrinkles.
What results can be expected?
When artistically and expertly injected, Jeuveau smooths glabellar lines without affecting facial expressiveness. Neuromodulator results typically develop in 7 to 10 days after injection and last for about 3 months. However, many patients in the clinical trials were still highly satisfied with treatment results after 5 months.
What can I expect during the recovery?
Jeuveau requires little to no downtime. But you might experience some bruising, redness, or swelling around the injection sites after the treatment.
Are there any risks or side effects?
These injections are relatively safe when performed by a skilled provider. (Read why you should never get injections from an unqualified practice in this blog post.) The most common side effects are discomfort, bruising, and swelling around the injection sites.
Can I try Jeuveau if I already have BOTOX?
Yes, you can try Jeuveau even if you have used BOTOX or dermal fillers before. If you’re still experiencing the results of your last BOTOX appointment, especially in the area between your eyebrows, ask about switching products at your next touch-up visit.
